A driver was injured in a wreck that blocked traffic along U.S. Highway 280 near Gordy Enterprises in Lyons on Monday, August 28.
According to Toombs County Sheriff’s Deputy Chase Barr, authorities were dispatched to Georgia Highway 280 near Ezra Taylor Road at around 12:30 p.m. regarding a car accident.
Upon arrival, Barr spoke with Dustin Skipper, who said that he was driving east on the highway between Vidalia and Lyons when he saw a gray Impala turn in behind his vehicle in an attempt to get into the outside lane. Skipper said that he did not believe Laquisha Holt, who was driving the Impala, saw the trailer which he was pulling. Holt’s vehicle struck the front of the trailer, causing her to lose control and travel into the westbound lanes, where she struck the front bumper of a vehicle driven by James Reynolds.
Both Skipper and Reynolds were uninjured, but Holt sustained injuries and was transported to Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia. The Georgia State Patrol also responded to the scene and is currently investigating the accident.
