A compilation of quotations on a variety of issues by national, state and regional writers, well-known personalities, just plain everyday people and from various publications collected by the editors of THE ADVANCE.
Quotes for our Times:
'It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first.'
…Ronald Reagan Matt Vespa, Senior Editor at Townhall. com: Secretary Blinken's latest Ukraine visit just gave the whole game away.
He wanted to end this open-ended commitment that spanned three presidencies, only to engage us in a similar quandary in Ukraine. There is no major troop footprint, but the endless stream of money in a nation that serves little to America’s interests other than wanting to kill Russians is a twist of irony that can only happen to Joe Biden. Exiting one war only to re-engage us in an endless proxy conflict with Moscow isn’t smart, Joe. But you wouldn’t know, being that you’ve been wrong on every major foreign policy decision for the past 40 years.
And not that it needs to be said, but there’s rampant corruption associated with these aid packages, which have no oversight.
How do we fix this? Voting this guy out next year is a start.
Andrew C. McCarthy, senior fellow at the National Review Institute and a contributing editor of National Review: Hunter Biden's expected indictment: Never forget, they think we're idiots.
After five years, the Hunter gun case should be the easiest grand jury presentation of a one-paragraph indictment in the annals of American prosecution. Why is Weiss still talking about indicting the case when he could easily have indicted the case? If he had just spent a half-hour in the grand jury and gotten the simple indictment, he wouldn’t have to tell Judge Noreika anything on Wednesday. The felony charge would have spoken for itself. The statute of limitations would no longer be an issue. They could have just set a trial date.
Instead, Weiss is still dithering. He and the Biden Justice Department just hope you’re too dumb to notice.
Tim Graham, director of media analysis at the Media Research Center and executive editor of the blog NewsBusters.org: Biden, Democrats angry that media isn’t doing even more PR for them.
We routinely watch the news and jokingly ask, 'Who's president?' Trump gets all the slings and arrows, and Biden is comparably invisible. But you can't argue all the anti-Trump ardor doesn't help Biden.
The emotional sense you get in Biden's tantrum is that journalists just don't worship him like they worshipped Barack Obama. Biden was painted as restoring normalcy and competence and civility, even though he did none of that. But even that painting doesn't match their coverage of Obama, who was somehow the black JFK, FDR and Abraham Lincoln, with maybe a dash of Jesus.
