TCHS Falls To Appling

The Toombs County High School softball team faced off with Appling County at home on Tuesday, falling to the Lady Pirates. They were scheduled to take on Vidalia in Vidalia on Thursday, but that game was postponed due to weather. vs. Appling
The Lady Dawgs fell to Appling County 3-0 in a Region game on Tuesday night. The Pirates scored two runs in the top of the first inning and held the Lady Dawgs scoreless for the remainder of the game.
The Bulldogs had a few chances to score, but Appling County’s defense was too strong. In the bottom of the first, Shay Stringer hit a single on a 1-2 count, but the Lady Dawgs were unable to capitalize. In the bottom of the sixth, Kassidy Brantley reached on an error with no outs, but the Lady Dawgs were once again unable to get any runs across the plate.
Stringer had a strong performance, going 1-for-3 with a single and also contributing with seven strikeouts from the pitcher’s circle.
It is a busy week this week for the Lady Bulldogs as they took on Screven County on Monday and Brantley County on Tuesday, both after presstime. They will next host Pierce County on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. and then travel to Blackshear on Thursday to face Pierce at 6:00 p.m.
