Wheeler County Lady Bulldogs Split Games

The Wheeler County High School softball team played two games last week as they picked up a win over McIntosh County Academy on Monday of last week, but fell to Wilcox County in extra innings on Thursday. vs. MCA

It was all Wheeler on Monday as the Lady Bulldogs rolled to a win. Wheeler took the early lead with two runs in the top of the first inning in Darien. They plated five more in the second inning to push their lead to

7- 0. Two more runs for Wheeler in the top of the third made it 9-0. Wheeler scored one in the fourth and then got four more in the fifth inning as they took the win by the run rule, 14-0. vs. Wilcox

It was a heartbreaker for the Lady Bulldogs in Rochelle on Thursday. The game was scoreless through the first three innings, but in the top of the fourth inning, Wheeler got a run across to take a 1-0 lead.

That lead held until the bottom of the seventh inning when Wilcox scored a run to tie the game at 1-1, and send it into extra innings. Wheeler couldn't get anything across in the top of the eighth, but in the bottom of the frame Wilcox found a way and scored a run to take a 2-1 win over the Lady Bulldogs.

Wheeler is now 12-7 on the year, and they are 3-4 in the Region and currently sitting in fourth place.

This week they had a rematch with MCA on Monday and hosted Treutlen County on Tuesday after presstime. They will be at Hawkinsville on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
