Spartans Defeat Crusaders

Robert Toombs Christian Acadmy's football team traveled to Edmund Burke to play the Spartans last Friday night. It was a close game, but RTCA fell to the Spartans by the score of 14-7.
During the first quarter, EBA scored a touchdown to get on the board first. They tacked on the extra point to make it 7-0.
In the second quarter of the contest, David Hill found the end zone on a 22-yard run early in the second quarter. Hayden Meeks added the extra point to tie the game at 7- 7.
With just 30 seconds left to go in the first half EBA scored again to go back on top of the Crusaders. They added the PAT for a 14-7 lead heading to halftime.
Over the second half of the game the defenses took over as neither team scored again. RTCA had a chance late in the game but were not able to score to tie the game, losing 147, to the Spartans.
The top 3 offensive players of the game were Hayden Kight, David Hill, and Justin Powell. Kight with 62 passing yards, Hill with 71 rushing yards on 16 carries, Powell with 62 rushing yards on 12 carries. Top 3 defesive players of the game were Justin Powell, Landen Sauls, and Isaac Holton all tied with 6 tackles. T Head Coach Matt Meeks said, 'It was a tough night. The boys played extremely hard and fought for all four quarters, and we as a whole just couldn't quite find a way. EBA is a good AA team and is looking to do well in the remainder of their season, and I feel our guys gave them all they wanted and we just came up a tad short.
“I'm proud of the effort and the ability to fight and stay in a super close game, and we had chances that we just didn't capitalize on them. Defensively, we played exceptionally well and my hat is off to the guys for that, but we have to help that out and be more efficient offensively to go along with the defensive effort. Fortunately, we now have a bye week and some time to regroup, refocus, and get prepared for the last couple of regular season region games.'
The next football game for RTCA will be at Thomas Jefferson on October 27.
