Mrs. Stanley’s 6th Grade English classes at Wheeler County Middle School recently held a “Glow” Publishing Party after finishing their personal narratives unit.

Throughout the unit, students practiced creating good leads, writing strong plots, crafting engaging endings, punctuating dialogue correctly, and including descriptive language and strong vocabulary in their stories. After completing a peer review and revising their drafts, students published a final draft. On the day of the Glow party, students received glow necklaces and walked into their classroom ready to celebrate their hard work. Under the black lights and disco lights, students participated in a gallery walk by using glow-in-the-dark sticky notes to give their peers positive feedback on their narratives. Each student also nominated classmates for Glow awards such as most fascinating figurative language and dynamic dialogue.
