For the first time, Wheeler County Middle School joins Wheeler County Elementary School in the Heart of Georgia RESA Sumdog competition. This is an online competition with “engaging math games” focused on essential math skills. The competition takes place in class or at home, giving students the opportunity to work on 1,000 math problems.
The February competition opened on the 2nd and runs through the 8th. We are looking for great results. The December competition had several classes and students recognized for their hard work. Sixth grader Aiden Rutherford was the 1st place individual winner for all schools in the RESA district. Sixth grader Kara Caldwell was the 8th place individual winner.
WCMS had four classes with top 10 finishes. Mrs. Carey’s 6th grade fourth block math students finished 9th in the middle school competition. Coach Gardner’s 4th block finished 6th and his 2nd block students finished 7th in the middle school competition. Mrs. Edge’s 6th grade students finished 10th.
We are proud of the work our math students have done. We cannot wait to celebrate their new accomplishment in the upcoming quarterly award ceremony.
