In September, the Memorial Health Meadows Hospital Medical Staff Youth Advisory Board began the seventeenth year of the program. The Board is composed of academically gifted high school seniors from seven area schools: Montgomery County High School, Robert Toombs Christian Academy, Toombs County High School, Treutlen County High School, Vidalia Heritage Academy, Vidalia High School and Wheeler County High School. Dr. Susanna Meredith is the Director of Youth Advisory Board.

The students meet each month during the school year to learn about healthcare issues affecting the community and to explore careers in healthcare. Students learn how integral healthcare is to the wellness and vitality of a community. The Memorial Health Meadows Hospital Medical Staff hopes this program will provide the students with information and opportunities and be the impetus of a pursuit of a healthcare related career. The motto for the program is LEADING TODAY’S YOUTH TO A HEALTHIER TOMORROW.

Several alumni of the program are currently working in our community as nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other healthcare related positions.
