Quotes for our Times:
Matt Vespa, Senior Editor at Townhall. com: Not even Joe Biden knows…Joe Biden on mental health.
Our eyes don’t lie, Joe. You can’t do the job, and 86 percent of Americans who think you’re too old is quite a steep hole to get out of, made more difficult with your prevaricating attitude toward the press. The only way to tackle this is by trotting out and doing public appearances, which has paralyzed his staff with fear. Biden ditched an interview with CBS News on Super Bowl Sunday, which says everything about the level of trust his aides have regarding not having a devastating senior moment.
Byron York, chief political correspondent for The Washington Examiner: Trump, NATO and the media.
Needless to say, [Secretary General of NATO, Jens] Stoltenberg's assessment — that Trump's stand actually strengthened NATO — got lost in the media hysteria that followed Trump's Conway, SC, speech. It could be that the speech said less about NATO and more about Trump's relationship with some media outlets, a relationship that is both troubled and transactional. Troubled for obvious reasons, and transactional because Trump knows if he offers them something hot enough, they will stop everything and obsess over him again, just as they always have. And that is the lesson, such as it is, of the latest Trump-NATO-media flareup.
Spencer Brown, managing editor for Townhall.com: Here's what Tony Bobulinski told House investigators about the 'Biden Brand'.
Bobulinski reiterated to lawmakers that 'Joe Biden was 'the Brand' being sold by the Biden family' in their business dealings. 'His family's foreign influence peddling operation — from China to Ukraine and elsewhere — sold out to foreign actors who were seeking to gain influence and access to Joe Biden and the United States government,' Bobulinski said. 'Joe Biden was more than a participant in and beneficiary in his family's business; he was an enabler, despite being buffered by a complex scheme to maintain plausible deniability.'
William McGurn, a member of The Wall Street Journal editorial board. Previously he served as Chief Speechwriter for President George W. Bush: Kamala Harris was Joe Biden’s smartest decision.
In reality the selection of Ms. Harris is turning out to be the best thing Mr. Biden has ever done — for himself, if not for the Democratic Party. So long as she’s in the West Wing, he isn’t going anywhere. All that talk about invoking Section 4 of the 25th Amendment to remove him from office is fantasy.
Democrats who want to replace Mr. Biden fear that if he is on the ticket they’ll lose to Donald Trump. But they further calculate that for all the president’s problems, Ms. Harris would be easier for Mr. Trump to defeat.
