Treutlen Vikings Fall To The Dublin Fighting Irish
The Treutlen County High School Vikings football team traveled to Dublin last Friday night to take on the Fighting Irish for the first time in over 20 years. It was a tough night against the defending AA State Champions, with Dublin taking the Region win. The Vikings fall to 1-5 on the season and are 0-4 in Region play. Treutlen had the ball to start the game, but on just the third play they fumbled wth Dublin picking it up and taking over at the Vikings 5-yard line. Dublin went in for the touchdown on their first play to go ahead 6-0. The extra point was nogood.
Dublin added to their lead with ten minutes left in the first half on a 90-yard run. They tried a two-point conversion, but failed, to lead 12-0.
With just over five minutes left in the half the Irish were on the board again, this time on a 17-yard run. They added the extra point to lead 19-0. Dublin scored two more times before the end of the first half, the first with 1:08 left on a short run, and the second on a 52-yard pass with 33 seconds to go after stopping the Vikings offense and using all three timeouts.
In the second half of the game Dublin added a 55yard touchdown and a 5-yard score as they went on to win the game, 45-0.
This week Treutlen will be at Dooly County on Saturday with kickoff at 1:00 p.m.
