Treutlen Boys Are Region Champs

It was a good week for the Treutlen County High School Vikings basketball teams as the boys are Region Champions and the girls are runnerups. The boys faced off with Dooly County and Wilcox County, while the Lady Vikings went up against Hawkinsville and Wilcox County.

Girls vs. Hawkinsville

The Lady Vikings led 18-11 after the first quarter to take the early lead. The Lady Red Devils kept pace in the second, but at halftime Treutlen was still out in front, 3024.

In the third quarter of the game Hawkinsville went on a run as they came back to tie the game at 39-39 heading to the fourth. But in the fourth Treutlen pulled away as they outscored the Devils, 24-11, on the way to a 63-50 win.

Boys vs. Dooly

The boys came away with a win over the Bobcats to advance to the Region Championship. Treutlen won their game 71-65 over Dooly.

Girls vs. Wilcox

It was a tough matchup for the Lady Vikings as they faced the Lady Patriots of Wilcox for the Region Championship. Wilcox jumped out to an 18-10 lead in the first quarter of the game, and they extended that lead in the second to 34- 22.

Treutlen did close the lead in the third, but were still trailing 42-33 heading to the fourth. In the fourth Wilcox pulled away and took the win, 64- 37.

The loss will send the Lady Vikings into the State Playoffs as the #2 seed out of their Region.

Boys vs. Wilcox

The Treutlen boys pulled out a big win over the Patriots as they claimed the Region Championship. Treutlen won the game by just two points, 70-68.

The win gives them a #1 seed heading into the State Playoffs.

This week the Lady Vikings will take on Early County at 6:00 p.m. at home. Following that game, the boys will take on Randolph-Clay at 7:30 p.m.
