VRD 14u Girls 2nd At District

There were just three teams in the 14u Girls GRPA District 1 Tournament that was held in Emanuel County last week. Emanuel County rolled to the Championship, with Vidalia and Lyons taking second and third. Vidalia will move on to the State Tournament.

Emanuel County took on Lyons in the first game of the tournament and cruised to a 16-0 win. Up next was Vidalia, and the girls from VRD fell to a similar fate as they lost to Emanuel, 10-0.

That moved Emanuel into the Championship Game and put Lyons and Vidalia against each other for a chance at the title. It was a close game, but Vidalia came out on top by the score of 2-1.

The loss ended the run for Lyons, and sent VRD into the Championship. But in the Championship Vidalia again was defeated by Emanuel County. This time VRD lost by the score of 12-0.

With second place VRD will play in the State Tournament, which is held this week in Madison County. VRD opened up their tournament on Tuesday after presstime against Lee County. If they make it through to the Championship, they would play on Thursday at noon.
