Family and friends came together at Calvary’s Grace Baptist Church on the afternoon of May 11, to celebrate this special lady, Patricia Dobbins.

Mayor Joey Fountain, surprised her by presenting to her the key to the city and a beautiful plaque. Her Pastor, Brian Patrick, also spoke about her, as did her children.

Her children are Dobby (Susan) Dobbins, Debra (Carl) Gay, and Donna (Jimmy) Sharpton. Grandchildren are Tamra (Reid) Rodgers, Dominique (Andrew) Munday, Gabriel (Amanda) Gay, Tanner Brice and Carmen (Tim) Suttles. She also has nine great-grandchildren who were all in attendance.

Mrs. Dobbins, as she is known by so many, worked in the Montgomery County Schools for 46 years. She was the wife of Coach Mayes Dobbins, former principal and BOE member, who is deceased. Also deceased are a grandson, Turner Brice, her parents, William McLendon and Mary Elizabeth Winburn, and three brothers Charles Winburn, Gene Mac Winburn and Lewis Winburn.

She graduated from Dodge County High School, where she was a cheerleader and played basketball. After high school, she attended Middle Georgia College, where she was crowned their May Queen and enjoyed cheerleading. It was during that time she met her soon to be husband, and love of her life, Mayes Dobbins.

Patricia enjoys reading her devotional, working crossword puzzles, Facebook, her family and attending CGBC.

Thank you, to all those who took time out of their lives, to come out and honor this “Steel Magnolia” and quintessential “Southern Lady,” Patricia Ann Winburn Dobbins.
