VRD Swimmers Race At State

On Saturday, June 29, the Vidalia Swim Team hosted their annual VST Invitational at the Vidalia Aquatics Center. The team performed very well, earning 3rd place as a team, as well as having a number of high points winners.
In the Boys 9-10 age division, Easton Moore earned 1st Place and Mason Zorn earned 2nd Place. In the 15-18 Girls Division, 3rd place went to Autumn Moore while in the Boys 15-18 Division, 3rd Place went to Brockton Estrada. Overall, the team had a great showing with lots of personal best times.
State Meet
The Vidalia Recreation Department Swim Team had a great showing at the GRPA B State Swim Meet in Moutrie on July 12 and 13. Twentytwo swimmers competed in the meet with numerous swimmers making it to the finals and bringing home awards.
In the 9-10 age division, Cason McLendon finished 8th in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 35.67. Isabella Morgan placed 7th in the 25 yard freestyle with a time of 16.56. Easton Moore placed 6th in the 25 yard breaststroke with a time of 12.70, 3rd in the 100 yard individual medley with a time of 1:25.32, and 4th in the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 17.77. Mason Zorn placed 8th in the 25 yard freestyle with a time of 16.57. The 10 & Under mixed relay team of Addison Hasbrouck, Carson McLendon, Isabella Morgan, and Jacob Tomlin placed 7th in the 100 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:19.41 In the 11-12 age division, Aeriona Birkheimer finished 7th in the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 38.11. Virginia Meredith finished 6th in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 1:11.98 and 8th in the 50 backstroke with a time of 42.45. Aubree Zorn finished 3rd in the 25 yard butterfly with a time of 35.43. The 12 & under girls relay team of Lizabel Estrada, Kaybri Jernigan, Jillian Tomlin, and Gracy West finished 6th with a time of 2:59.19. The 12 & under mixed relay team of Ginny Meredith, Easton Moore, Aubree Zorn, and Mason Zorn earned 3rd place in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 2:44.44 as well as 3rd place in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 2:20.55.

Moore finished 5th in the 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 34.85, 6th in the 100 yard individual medley with a time of 1:08.80 and 7th in the 50 backstroke with a time of 33.04. The mixed 18 & under relay team of Aeriona Birheimer, Brockton Estrada, Autumn Moore, & Anthony Underwood placed 5th in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 2:32.88 and 6th in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:56.71.
The team was led this year by coaches Conley Brown, Reece Brown, Jake Davis, and Anthony Underwood.
