Uvalda to Hold Special Election for City Council Seats

The City of Uvalda will be holding a special election in November for three vacated City Council seats.

The deaths of City Councilman William Franklin Rollins and Councilwoman Janice Braddy recently vacated two seats; Mayor Pro Tem Bennie Sammons submitted his resignation to the City, vacating a third seat.

Qualifying for these positions will be held at the Montgomery County Board of Elections Office, which is located in the Montgomery County Government Annex at 251 S. Richardson Street in Mount Vernon, from 9 a.m. on Monday, August 5, until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7. The qualifying fee is $25.

Everyone who is not registered to vote and would like to vote in the special election has until 5 p.m. on October 7 to register. Early voting will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily at the Montgomery County Government Annex from October 15 until November 1. The special election will be held in conjunction with the Presidential and county elections on Tuesday, November 5, with a potential runoff election (if needed) on Tuesday, December 3.
