8u VRD Girls Are District Champs
The Vidalia Recreation Department 8u Girls took part in the GRPA District 1 Tournament last week at Emanuel County. The girls battled their way to the Championship and will now move on to the State Tournament. vs. Emanuel County
The first game of the tournament for the VRD girls was against the host team, Emanuel County. It was the closest game of the tournament for VRD as they took the win over Emanuel by just one run. VRD won the game by the score of 5-4. vs. Effingham County
That moved Vidalia into the semifinals of the winners' bracket where they took on Effingham County. Vidalia had no problems as they got the bats going and cruised to a big win. VRD took the win over Effingham by the score of 20-2. vs. Emanuel County Championship Emanuel fought back through the losers' bracket to make it to the Championship for a rematch with Vidalia. It was a high scoring game, but this time VRD was well ahead at the end. Vidalia plated 26 runs in the game on the way to a 26-14 win.
The win gave VRD the District 1 Championship. They will now move on to Moultrie to play in the State Tournament. Vidalia has a bye in the first round and will take on the winner of the Moultrie vs. Wayne County game. VRD will play their first game on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. If they make it to the Championship, that game will be on Thursday at 10:30 a.m.
