GRPA State Youth Tournaments

The Georgia Recreation and Parks Association is holding their State Youth Tournaments this week and young baseball and softball players travel to compete for a State Championship. The Lyons and Vidalia recreation departments each have four teams competing this week for a chance to bring home some hardware.

LRD 10u Girls Lyons will play this week in the State Tournament at Effingham County. Lyons played Summerville in their first game of the tournament on Tuesday after presstime. If they make it to the Championship Game, that will be on Thursday at 11:30 a.m.

10u Boys

Lyons will now move on to the State Tournament, which is being held in Bulloch County. Lyons had a bye in the first round and will play their first game on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. If they make it to the title game, they will play on Friday at 11:30 a.m.

12u Girls

Lyons will now play in the State Tournament this week in Douglas. Lyons' first game was on Tuesday against Worth County. If Lyons makes it to the Championship, that will be held on Thursday at 11: 45 a.m.

14u Boys

Lyons will move on to the State Tournament this week. That is being held in Effingham County. Lyons played their first game on Tuesday after presstime against Bartow County. If they make it to the Championship Game, that will be on Friday at 10:00 a.m.

VRD 8u Girls VRD, the District 1 Champion, will now move on to Moultrie to play in the State Tournament. Vidalia has a bye in the first round and will take on the winner of the Moultrie vs. Wayne County game. VRD will play their first game on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. If they make it to the Championship, that game will be on Thursday at 10:30 a.m.

8u Boys

This week VRD is at Effingham County for the GRPA State Tournament. Vidalia played their first game on Tuesday after presstime against the Savannah Mustangs. If VRD makes it to the Championship Game, it will be on Thursday at 11:30 a.m.

12u Boys

This week the VRD boys are in Bulloch County for the GRPA State Tournament. They kicked off the tourney with their first game on Tuesday of this week at 5:00 p.m. against Summerville, the District 5 Champion. If VRD makes it to the Championship, it will be this Friday at 11:00 a.m.

14u Girls

With second place at District, VRD will play in the State Tournament, which is held this week in Madison County. VRD opened up their tournament on Tuesday after presstime against Lee County. If they make it through to the Championship, they will play on Thursday at noon.
