After 18 years of working with the Department of Corrections, Elizabeth Scott has been promoted to serve as Deputy Warden at the Montgomery State Prison in Mt. Vernon.

Scott first began working within the prison system in 2006, when she joined the Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer at Telfair State Prison in McRae. In 2016, she transferred to Montgomery State Prison after being promoted to Sergeant. Her rise in rank has continued throughout her time in Mt. Vernon, as she has become a Lieutenant and Captain before ultimately accepting this new role.

Throughout her years of service, Scott has received various departmental training — including Basic Correctional Officer Training, Sergeants Academy, Chief of Security Training, POST Instructor Training, and Supervision I, II, and III – which helped her excel in her continued from page

roles at each facility. According to Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Tyrone Oliver, it is Scott’s ability to lead others which helped her receive this recognition and promotion. 'Scott has displayed exceptional leadership skills in each position she has held with the GDC,” he commented. “We appreciate her dedication to the mission, and we are confident she will excel in her new role at Montgomery [State Prison].'

Scott officially began work as the Deputy Warden on July 31, and is now responsible for overseeing security staff members, supervising educational programs, health services, library services, counseling programs, recreational services, and the mental health services of male offenders at the facility.
