Indian Softball Drops 2 Games

It was a tough weekend for the Vidalia High School Indians softball team as they traveled to Harlem for a pair of games. They faced off with host Harlem in the morning and then took on Greenbrier in the afternoon, dropping both of those games. vs. Harlem

VHS took the lead over the Lady Bulldogs of Harlem in the top of the first inning as Lilly Grace Ma¥bin drove in two runs with a single to put the first runs on the board. Harlem scored a run on a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning to close the lead to 2-1.

Harlem added three more runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 4-2 lead over the Indians. Harlem increased their lead with three more runs in the fourth inning to go on top 7-2.

VHS scored one more run in the game in the top of the fifth inning on a solo home run by Deidra Boston. VHS couldn't get anything else going as they dropped the game, 7-3. Tori Polke took the loss for VHS in the circle, but she did strike out six batters. vs. Greenbrier

VHS picked up two runs in the top of the first inning. The first came on an error, and the second on a hit by Savnnah Rushing. That gave the Indians a 2-0 lead.

Greenbrier plated a run in the bottom of the first inning, and then took the lead in the second with two more runs to go on top, 3-2. They added four more runs in the third inning to make it 7-2 VHS got two more runs across in the top of the fourth inning and one more in the fifth, with Ivy Berry and Sadie Berry each driving in runs, but it was not enough as VHS fell 9-5. Anastyn Blewett took the loss in the circle for VHS. This week VHS faced St. Vincents on the road on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action this weekend as they host the Hwy. 280 Invitational on Saturday. As part of that, Vidalia will host Pierce County at 10:00 a.m. and ACE at 4:00 p.m. There will be other games between. Toombs County High School will also host games at their field.
