Braddy Signs With ABAC
Ashtyn Braddy of Vidalia High School has signed to play softball for the Fillies of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton. Braddy has helped to lead the Indians to the State playoffs the past two seasons and has made a big impact on VHS. Braddy played just two years for the Indians' varsity program after moving from Toombs County. But in those two years she racked up some impressive numbers. In 2019 she was the Region 2AA Player of the Year and was 1st Team All-State. For 2020 she was selected to the 1st Team All-Region, Georgia Dugout Club 1st Team All-State, and Georgia Dugout Club All-Star.
Braddy had a career batting average of .428 with 11 doubles and 7 triples. She added 41 RBI's and scored 102 runs, she walked 42 times and had an on base percentage of .546. Braddy brought her incredible speed to the field and with that caused havoc for other teams' defenses. VHS Head Coach Brad Thompson said, “I always say if you can't beat us join us. Ashtyn did just that and came in and did exactly what she needed to do to be a part of our team. She worked hard and the girls really accepted her because of what she did and she earned everything she got.
“We were just lucky to have her and it was a pat on our back with her wanting to come over and be a part of what we do. We got a great kid and she has a great family and we had good years with her. ABAC is getting an all around five-star player. She can play any position and I hope that she stays there and has a good time. She lives the game and will help their team win.”
ABAC Coach Mike Reed stated, “I first saw her at a camp and the first thing that jumped off the page was her speed, just incredible. We started talking and I found out what a good young lady she is as well as a player. She just fit all the bills for us and we are thrilled to get her and we will be better for it.”
Braddy added, “ABAC is a good school. I know several of the girls that go there and I know that they will push me to be better. I have to thank my coaches both in high school and travel ball, my whole softball family, teammates, and parents. I am ready to get there and to work and just ready to play hard.”
