Robert Toombs Christian Academy hosted the Warriors of Southwest Georgia Academy last Friday night for Homecoming. It was a tough game for the Crusaders as they struggled to get the offense going as they fell 33-7 to SGA.

During halftime of the game, the Crusaders had their Homecoming festivities. After introducing all the Homecoming Court, they crowned Kylie Acosta as the 2024 Homecoming Queen and Maddie Joyner as the Homecoming Princess.

In the game, the Crusaders had a nice goal-line stand on defense to keep the Warriors out of the end zone early in the first quarter. RTCA moved the ball out a bit but had to punt the ball away. SGA again moved the ball deep into the Crusaders territory, but again RTCA came up with a big stop and took over on downs at their 19-yard line.

In the second quarter, a big run from the Warriors put them at the RTCA 22yard line, and on the next play, they went in for the touchdown with about seven minutes to play in the first half. They failed on the twopoint conversion as they led 6- 0.

SGA scored again with one minute to play in the half on a short run. They were successful on the two-point try to take a 14-0 lead over RTCA.

RTCA took a short kick on the ensuing kickoff and started at their 33-yard line. A good run and a big penalty on the Warriors moved RTCA all the way to the 17yard line. On the next play, Christian Mixon went in for the touchdown as time ran out in the first half. Hayden Meeks added the extra point as RTCA closed the lead to 14-7 heading to halftime.

Early in the second half, SGA added a touchdown to take a 20-7 lead over RTCA. Neither team scored over the remainder of the third quarter.

The Warriors took a 26-7 lead early in the fourth quarter and pushed that lead to 33-7 with about five minutes left to play. RTCA couldn’t find the end zone again in the game as they fell 33-7 to the Warriors.

This week RTCA will be at Southland Academy in Americus on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
