Lady Vikings End Season With 2 Wins
The Treutlen County High School softball team closed out their season with a pair of wins over Turner County last week. The Lady Vikings took both games by the run rule. But Treutlen finished the season with an overall record of 5-10 and they were 3-7 in Region action, finishing in fifth place in the Region, missing the State Playoffs.
Game 1
On Tuesday of last week at Turner County, the Vikings jumped out to a big lead over the Lady Titans. Treutlen extended their lead and went on to win the game by the score of 16-1 in three innings.
Game 2
At home on Thursday, the Vikings jumped out with eight runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a big lead. Taylor Gillis drove in a run, and then an error on the Titans brought in another run. That was followed by a two-run double by Ruthie Blair, and then two more runs scored on errors by Turner. That had put Treutlen on top 6-0. Kaitlyn Hackle drove in a run with a single, and the Vikings added one more run in the inning to take an 8-0 lead.
The Vikings added six more unearned runs in the second inning as they pushed their lead to 14-0. The final run of the game came in the bottom of the third inning on an insidethe- park home run by Kaylyn Kight. That gave the Vikings the win, 15-0.
