In the 38th meeting of their storied rivalry, the Toombs County High School Bulldogs delivered a commanding 51-6 win over the Vidalia High School Indians on Friday night at Booster Stadium. With this victory, Toombs County secured its fourth consecutive win over Vidalia, backed by a stellar performance from the Red Bullet Defense and an explosive offensive display.

The Bulldogs set the tone early, holding the Indians to three consecutive three-and-outs on their opening drives. Midway through the first quarter, Toombs struck first with a 7-play, 79-yard drive capped by an impressive 19-yard touchdown run by Alex Scott. Alex Otero’s successful extra point gave the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead with 4:53 remaining in the opening quarter.

After a brief exchange of turnovers, Senior Dabyn Wadley broke loose on a 46-yard sprint to the end zone, extending Toombs’ lead to 14-0 early in the second quarter. Senior quarterback TJ Stanley then took to the air, connecting with Senior Mike Polke on a 40-yard touchdown pass and later hitting Junior Gavin Fletcher for a 17-yard score. Toombs entered halftime with a commanding 28-0 lead.

The Bulldogs continued their momentum in the second half as Donterius Mincey returned the kickoff 80 yards all the way to the VHS 2-yard line. But the VHS defense held and forced a field goal by the Bulldogs. Otero drilled the 24-yard field goal, widening the lead to 31-0.

Toombs added three more touchdowns in the final quarters, with Stanley scoring on a 3-yard run and Justin Powell punching in two more on runs of 9 and 3 yards. continued from page

Stanley went 13-20 passing in the game for 189 yards and 2 touchdowns. Toombs moved the ball around in the rushing game with no player over 100 yards, but the Bulldogs rushed for a total of 282 yards, with eight players carrying the ball in the game. Polke was the leading receiver with 86 yards.

The Bulldogs’ dominant 51-6 victory over Vidalia keeps their undefeated streak alive, improving them to 7-0 for the second consecutive season. Toombs is also sitting at 2-0 in Region play. Next up, the Bulldogs will face Savannah Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday in Pooler. This game has huge Region and playoff implications for both teams, and is a matchup of the #1 team in the State in Class A Division 1, and the #1 team in the State in the A-AAA Private School Division.

Vidalia is now 3-5 on the season and they are 0-3 in the Region. VHS will take on Savannah Country Day this Friday at home with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
