BPC Volleyball Wraps Up Season

The Breton-Parker College Lady Barons volleyball team dropped two matches last week as they fell to William Carey and to Faulkner. vs. William Carey

The Brewton-Parker Barons faced a tough defeat in a home conference volleyball contest against the William Carey Crusaders, losing in straight sets, 3-0, on November 6, 2024. Despite spirited intervals, Brewton-Parker couldn't secure the win in any of the three sets, with final scores reading 25-15, 2522, and 25-10 against the Barons.

From the outset, William Carey dominated the court, setting a high pace in the first set with a decisive 25-15 win. The Barons showed resilience in the second set, pushing their opponents narrowly with a score of 25-22. However, they lost momentum in the third, captured by a commanding 25-10 scoreline favoring William Carey. Doriangelis Serrano led the Barons with 12 kills, with teammates Kavlyn Hartmann and Adriana De Jesus contributing to the attack.

Defensively, Amme Mobley and Laylah Mc-Coy each recorded a block. The Barons also displayed noteworthy efforts in digs and assists, with multiple players contributing in these key areas, including top performances from Kinsley Jordan and Jelisa Alexander. Despite these efforts, the team struggled to convert crucial points.

Reflecting on the performance, Coach Obed Quiles expressed his disappointment, 'We didn't play well. We are a much better team than the performance we showed tonight but those games are going to happen and we have to respond now on Friday. We are going to get refocused and prepare for Faulkner,' he stated. His comments highlight the need for focus and preparation as the Barons look forward to their next challenge against Faulkner at Faulkner University on November 8.

In a gripping volleyball conference showdown at Montgomery, Ala., the Brewton-Parker College Lady Barons fell narrowly to the Faulkner Eagles with a final score of 3-2 on November 8, 2024. Despite a strong start winning the first two sets, 25-19 and 2523, the Lady Barons couldn't sustain their momentum, succumbing in the next three sets 2025, 13-25, and 10-15.

The match featured remarkable performances from Brewton-Parker's top players. Doriangelis Serrano led with a powerful display of 24 kills, followed by Kavlyn Hartmann who not only provided 19 kills but also contributed significantly on defense with 20 digs. The defense was bolstered by Raphaela Felisberto, who not only executed five blocks but also served up three aces and delivered 24 assists, showcasing her allaround game. Adriana De Jesus and Amme Mobley also had notable contributions in blocking, key to the intense rallies during the match.

Despite the loss, the team displayed resilience and skill, particularly in moments like the critical blocks by Adriana De Jesus and Raphaela Felisberto which were crucial in the fiercely contested sets. Coach Obed Quiles expressed immense pride in his team's performance and growth, stating, 'I'm very proud of this team. They have grown so much from last year and helped build a foundation this program can build off of for the future. We are going to spend the off season getting better and recruiting and come back ready for next season,' With their season now concluded, the Lady Barons ended with a record of 11-10. The Lady Barons finished above .500 for the first time since 2010. With no more games this season, the focus shifts to training and building the team for a stronger comeback next year.
