Eagles Split With Pierce Co.
The Montgomery County High School Eagles basketball teams kicked off their season at home against the Bears of Pierce County last Thursday. The Lady Eagles dropped their game, but the boys took the win over Pierce.
Girls vs. Pierce
The Lady Eagles struggled on the offensive side of the ball as they shot just 19% from the field. They did keep it close early as they trailed 11-8 at the end of the first. In the second quarter, the Eagles continued to keep pace with Pierce leading 24-20 at the end of the first half.
In the third quarter, MCHS trailed 32-28, with each team scoring 8 points in the quarter. But in the fourth quarter the Bears pulled away as they kept the Eagles off the board. Pierce got the win, 41-28.
Boys vs. Pierce
In the boys' contest, Pierce held the early lead, and were up 17-13 at the end of the first quarter. In the second, the Eagles kept it even with Pierce, and heading to half time, the Bears were on top. 30-26.
In the third quarter, MCHS began to find their mark as they out scored Pierce 15-10. That gave MCHS a 4140 lead.
The Eagles extended their lead in the fourth quarter as they came away with the win, 5853.
The Eagles will play next on December 3 against Claxton with the girls starting at 6:00 p.m.
