Around 225 absentee ballots have been issued, and around 130 of these absentee ballots have been returned. Currently, the voter turnout is 31.67%, and continuing to climb.
Meanwhile, in Toombs County, a total of 5,512 voters have officially cast their ballots in the election as of the end of the day on Saturday, October 26. Of these 5,512 voters, 2,940 people voted within the last week – a 368-person increase from the first week of early voting. An additional 62 absentee ballots have been issued to voters, bringing the grand total to 554 issued ballots. Of these issued ballots, 317 absentee ballots have been returned, which is a 120-ballot increase from last week. This brings the current voter turnout in Toombs County to 36.99%.
In Treutlen County, a total of 1,563 people had voted by 1:40 p.m. on Monday, October 28, as 906 more people have cast their ballots since the first week of early voting, which is 249 more votes than those cast during the prior week. There have been 144 absentee ballots issued, totaling 46 more ballots issued than last week. Of these issued ballots, 78 ballots have been returned, as 42 more ballots have been received by the Treutlen County elections department. Currently, the voter turnout stands at 37.71%.
Wheeler County has had 964 citizens cast their ballots as of 1:30 p.m. on Monday, October 28, as 498 people voted during the second week of early voting, which totals 32 more voters throughout the second week than the first week. No more absentee ballots have been issued, leaving the number at 98 issued since the beginning of the election, but 20 more ballots have been returned since the first week of voting, bringing the total amount of absentee ballots returned to the Wheeler County Board of Elections to 66 ballots. Based on this information, the voter turnout is 33.20%.
Early voting is open within each county from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. until Friday, November 1. Early voting locations include: Montgomery County – Montgomery County Government Annex (205 S. Richardson St. in Mount Vernon; Toombs County – Toombs County Courthouse (100 Courthouse Sq. in Lyons); Treutlen County – Treutlen County Annex (650 Second St. in Soperton), and Wheeler County – Wheeler County Community Service Center (16 W. Forest Ave. in Alamo).
