The annual Vidalia Porchfest will hit the streets within the Jackson Heights Neighborhood from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 9.

According to Vidalia Porchfest Committee Chairman Wes Chapman, this year’s event comes at an important time, as the community is continuing to heal from the damage of Hurricane continued from page

Helene. “The Altama Museum of Art & History is always proud to host Porchfest and showcase local talent and artisans. However, in lieu of the storms this year, we are even more thrilled to be able to bring the community together through this event,” he emphasized.

This year’s event will feature 28 performances on 15 porches, as music ranges from hip hop to Christian contemporary, rock, and more. The Tiger Creek Band and the Oaks Ukulele Band will return to Porchfest on Saturday, while several performers, such as DJ Taz and the Relics Trio, will make their Porchfest debuts.

Over 18 food trucks and vendors will be parked beside the Altama Museum of Art & History for patrons to enjoy. Some of these vendors include Elkhatib’s Mediterranean Sizzle, Zack’s Durty Dogs, the Red Stag Tavern, El Centenario, Salt & Light Bakery, Lottie’s Pocket, and more. Several artisans, such as the Downtown Craft House, Inner Journeys, and Tres Chicas, will be set up in an area near the museum as well.

The neighborhood will have a Kid’s Zone set up for younger attendees to enjoy. This area will feature face painting and inflatable bounce houses for children to enjoy.

The Dr. Mark and Tonya Spivey Public Library will have a craft available for all patrons to walk in and complete from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday with no prior registration required.

Maps for the event will be available by the end of the week. For more information, call the Altama Museum at (912) 5371911.
