Homecoming At Treutlen
The Treutlen County High School Vikings football team had the tough task of hosting the Trojans of Telfair County for a late Homecoming. Treutlen held the lead in the second quarter of the game, but the Trojans pulled away in the second half for the win.
During halftime of the game, the Vikings held their Homecoming festivities as they crowned their Homecoming King and Queen. Kylan Page was named as the 2024 Homecoming King and Messiah Wise was crowned as Homecoming Queen.
The Vikings had the ball to start the game and moved it down the field but were stopped just across midfield. The Trojans took over, and on the first play of their possession, they broke a 51-yard run for the first touchdown of the game. They added on the two-point conversion to take an 8-0 lead.
Treutlen came back with 5:30 left in the first quarter with a touchdown on a pass from Jordan Coney to Page for 59 yards. Leo Brinson added the extra point to close the lead to 8-7.
Early in the second quarter of the game, the Vikings took the lead over the Trojans on a long 52yard run by Page. Brinson tacked on the extra point to put Treutlen on top, 148. But that was the last time that the Vikings scored in the game.
Just before the end of the first half, the Trojans capped off a drive with a 6-yard run to tie the game at 14-14. They did not convert the two-point try, and the game went to halftime tied at 14-14.
In the second half of the game, it was all Trojans. They took the lead in the third quarter on a short run to go on top 22-14 after the two-point conversion.
They added three more touchdowns in the fourth quarter on their way to a 40-14 win over the Vikings.
Treutlen will close out the regular season on Friday of this week with Wheeler County coming to town with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
