BRINGING UP GRADES CELEBRATION – Each semester, the Kiwanis Club of Vidalia celebrates students who have shown good character and improvement in their academics with a Bringing Up Grades (BUG) Celebration. This semester, the event was held on Friday, December 13.

Each semester, the Kiwanis Club of Vidalia provides selected students from Sally D. Meadows Elementary School with lunch from Chic-fil-A, a visit with the famous Chic-fil-A Cow, and extra time on the playground as a part of the Club’s Bringing Up Grades (BUG) Celebration. Though the celebration was temporarily postponed earlier in the semester because of the weather, the Kiwanians and students were finally able to celebrate a job well done on Friday, December 13.

Each semester, teachers select one student from their classes that have shown exemplary behavior or have improved their grades throughout the semester to take part in the fun. The students selected by their teachers were 2nd Graders Nakaya King, Mi’Kee Brown, D’omari Carner, Blaine Terwillinger, Aayden Brandon, Kace Ockletree, Alayla Roundtree, and Rylee Mitchell; 3rd Graders Maci Giles, Ethan Hodge, Orlando Dasher, Legacy Cartrette, Caleb Stovall, Anabeth Conrad, Jaslynn Cerrillo, Brynn Bell, Thailand Charles, Taylor Brodus, Ryley Coursey, Ryshon Ellis, Lyla Pough, Cameron Grillon, Maylee Faulk, and Hatcher Williams; 4th Graders Elijah Wiggins, Quavion Ford, Tezaylah McMillian, Samantha Perez, Dominique Henderson, Quamar Daniels, Ava Hudson, Luke Williams, Bailey Conner, Aria Robinson, Jackie Martinez, Khaliyah Outlaw, Kayla Nguyen, Wyatt Shirley, and Joshua Wilcher; and 5th Graders Jade Lewis, Lawson Worth, Isaiah Coker, Holly Faircloth, Kenneth Robinson, Garrett Hutto, Braylen Jordan, Delaney Foster, Janiyah Heggs, Aubrie Gillis, Joslynn McLendon, Kali Cruz, Josiah Lucas, Lillian Carrizales, and Jaxon Ellis.

Sally D. Meadows Elementary School Principal Brandon Boston also chooses a few students which he feels have excelled within the semester to join in on the fun. Students selected by Boston for the celebration included Shyheim Cooper, Faith Rivers, Omar’yon Hunt, Arabella Lumley, Macon August, Nolan George, Jade Lewis, Jaycee Moye, Joel Taylor, Chesley Horton, Brandorian Salem, Braylen Jordan, Charleigh Rush, Jediah White, and Jonathan Lanier.
