Leah Barkoukis, online features editor at Townhall.com: GOP Senator blocks 'desperate attempt' by dems to 'Trump-Proof' Washington.
In a video posted on X, [Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO)] said there are two ways Democrats have been trying to “Trump-proof” government. First, through the auctioning off of border wall material at a fraction of its value. And secondly, he pointed to this proposal to safeguard federal workers from potential reclassification.
“And I’m just leaving the Capitol, objecting to and blocking an initiative that they put forth to pass another law that would prevent President Trump from shaping the executive branch how he wants to, possibly firing federal workers who don’t show up to work,” he said. “Only about 16 percent of federal workers are in any one of these buildings in Washington on any given day. So, reform is coming, January 2025.”
Byron York, chief political correspondent for The Washington Examiner: Trump's popularity is rising — what will the resistance do?
At some point soon, the anti-Trump world will realize this is a dangerous situation for them. The key to resistance in Trump's first term was preventing Trump from governing. Now, a decrease in attacks has allowed the public to see Trump preparing to govern in a second term, and so far, voters are positive and hopeful about it. Which means we should expect the oldstyle attacks to fire up pretty soon. This time, though, Trump is better prepared for what is coming — so the battle might play out in an entirely different way.
Matt Vespa, Senior Editor at Townhall. com: Oh, so we might have Chinese drones buzzing overhead.
The list of suspects can span the globe at this point, from every alien species the UFO people allege exists to the Iranians and now the Chinese. It’s great we have such a competent group of people in charge right now. The same ace crew that let a Chinese spy balloon the size of the Statue of Liberty breach US airspace and hover for days, with their response to the whole circus being nothing more than ‘oops.’
The FBI has no answers. The White House is brain dead, and many of these reports remain classified despite the Biden crew saying these are civilian aircraft. So, why are the reports secret?
David Marcus, conservative columnist: Trump's Mar-a-Lago press conference was a sneak peek of what's to come.
That gentle breeze that you hear whispering through the branches of our body politic and government is the sounds of millions of Americans finally exhaling, safe in the knowledge that we once again have a president who can lead.
And one has to say it, it is nice that we are now so close to having an actual and functioning president of the United States once again.
