TCHS Basketball Finding Their Rhythm
The Toombs County High School Bulldogs basketball teams took on Savannah Christian and Bacon County last week. Both teams got a win over Savannah, but they split with Bacon County on Friday. The TCHS boys are getting all their players back from the State Championship winning football team that capped off their history making season on Tuesday of last week.
Girls vs. Savannah
Against the Lady Raiders of Savannah Christian, the Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 17-2 lead in the first quarter of the game. They added to that lead in the second to take a 25-6 lead into halftime.
In the second half of the game, the Bulldogs continued to pull away from the Raiders. They led 39-9 at the end of the third, and went on to win the game, 44- 20.
Toombs was led by Taylor Bland with 20 points, Arianna Hill added 9, and Brinley Miller posted 8 in the win.
Boys vs. Savannah
The Toombs County boys got a bit of redemption over the Raiders for the lone football loss of the season, as they came out and won the game on Thursday night. Toombs was on top, 11-9, at the end of the first quarter, and pushed that lead to 21-16 by halftime.
In the third quarter, the Raiders closed the gap to make the score, 3028, at the end of the third quarter. But in the fourth, Toombs held off Savannah to take the win, 44-41.
Toombs was led by two State Football Champions, Championship Game MVP Mike Polke with 14 points, star receiver Gavin Fletcher added 11 points, Parker Stanley posted 9 points in the win.

Raiders of Bacon County at home on Friday night. Toombs took the lead in the first quarter, 12-8. TCHS held pace in the second, and at halftime they were leading, 21-17.
In the third quarter, Bacon came back to take the lead, 33-30. Bacon pulled away in the third quarter to take the win, 50-41, over the Bulldogs.
Toombs was led by Hill with 16 points, and Bland added 12 in the loss.
Boys vs. Bacon
A big first quarter from Toombs was the difference in the game. Toombs jumped out to a 24-11 lead in the first quarter of the game. They added to that lead in the second to hold a 36-21 lead at halftime.
At the end of the third quarter, the Bulldogs were on top, 51-35. Toombs went on to win the game, 63-50.
The Lady Bulldogs will have the week off and will get back to action in the new year. The boys will play in the Paul Thigpen Christmas Classic at Vidalia High School. They will play Tattnall County on Thursday at 3:30 p.m., Coffee County on Friday at 2:30 p.m., and on Saturday they will play Paxon School for Advanced Studies out of Jacksonville, FL., at 2:30 p.m.
