On February 12, students and advisors from Vidalia High School Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) visited the State Capitol for the Georgia CTSO Legislative Expo.
CTSOs participating included Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), HOSA, SkillsUSA, and Technology Student Association (TSA). The trip provided students with an opportunity to meet with Representative Leesa Hagan, Senator Blake Tillery, and Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones to discuss the benefits of career and technical education.
Students had an incredible experience seeing both General Assembly chambers and observing bills being debated and passed. Food Science teacher Morgan Sager said, “Our day at the Capitol gave our students the opportunity to observe the process of bills becoming laws and to advocate for technical education in our public schools. We are very thankful for the funding we receive to help us teach these lifelong employability skills to our students.”
