Wheeler County Tax Commissioner Resigns


In a letter to Georgia Governor Brian Kemp dated March 1, Wheeler County Tax Commissioner Kim Clark resigned from her position effective March 31.
Clark, who has served as Tax Commissioner for the past two decades, has accepted a job with a private firm.
In the letter to Governor Kemp, Clark stated, “Serving in this capacity for the past 10 years has been a profound honor, and I have dedicated myself to the responsibilities of this office with the utmost commitment and fairness, transparency, and efficiency. that it is time for me to step down and pursue other opportunities.”
She continued, “I am truly grateful for the support I have received from my colleagues, staff, and the community throughout my tenure. It has been a privilege to work alongside such dedicated individuals, and I remain confident that they will continue to serve the public with excellence.”
In a Facebook post, Commissioner Clark expressed her “heartfelt gratitude” to the citizens of Wheeler County who have supported her during nearly 11 years of public service.
“It has been an incredible honor, and I will forever treasure the experiences and relationships I’ve built along the way. Each person I’ve had the opportunity to assist has contributed to my growth, both personally and professionally,” Clark said.
Clark commented on the next step in her career. “This new opportunity would not have been possible without the foundation I built while serving in this role. Please know this was not a decision I made lightly; it is something I have carefully and prayerfully considered over time.”
She concluded, “I am deeply grateful for the trust and confidence you placed in me, and it has been a true blessing to serve the citizens of Wheeler County. Thank you for your unwavering support throughout the years.”
The Wheeler County Commission scheduled a meeting on Tuesday, March 25, to set qualifying fees for candidates who wish to seek the position. A special primary will be held on June 17. Qualifying for the partisan post will take place April 14, 15, and a half day on April 16. Probate Judge Jolinda Harrelson will appoint an interim replacement for Clark who will serve until the primary.
