RTCA Boys Fall In Final 4


The Robert Toombs Christian Academy boys’ basketball team played in the Final 4 last Wednesday against First Presbyterian Christian Academy at Brewton-Parker College. RTCA kept it close early, but FPCA pulled away in the second half to take the win and end the Crusaders’ season.
Early in the game, the score was tied at 4-4, but FPCA pulled ahead to an 8-4 lead with just over three minutes left in the first quarter. FPCA led 13-8 with 1:55 left on the clock, and they increased that lead to 19-8 just before the end of the first quarter. RTCA did get a shot before the buzzer to make the score 19-10 at the end of the first period.
In the second, RTCA closed the lead to 19-16 on a basket by Jakobe Mobley, and then it was 19-18 with 5:40 left in the half after a basket by Jayden Toole. FPCA went on a small run to make it 25-18, and then it was 28-19 with 3:50 on the clock.
FPCA then began to pull away as they extended their lead to 31-21, and then it was 35-21 with just 1:50 to play in the half. Mobley got another shot to fall for RTCA to close it to 35-26 with just under Parker College.

Early in the third, FPCA led 39-30 over RTCA, and they increased that to 41-30 with 5:20 left in the period. With just over three minutes to go, the score was 45-32. FPCA continued to pull away as they led 51-32 with just 1:45 on the clock.
By the end of the third period, the score was 5532 with FPCA well out in front. In the fourth quarter, it was more of the same from FPCA as they took over and secured their spot in the State Championship. FPCA went on to defeat RTCA, 72-45.
Mobley led RTCA with 20 points with Toole adding 11 in the loss. The Crusaders finished their season with a record of 1511 as they made it to the GIAA Final 4. FPCA went on to play Citizens Christian in the State Championship at Columbus State and defeated them, 59-48, to win the State Championship.
